Dawn Chapman of Albadawnart is inspired by her local environment and uses both colour and texture to create handmade prints.
Dawn chooses to work in print work as she loves the versatility of the print making process. She especially loves the fact that the final images she produces are in part informed by the actual printmaking process used to create them, and the fact the final image is only revealed after it has been through the press or once the last screen has been lifted. Every single print is an individual as the combination of ink and pressure is never exactly the same and unexpected accidents can often end in more exciting final results.
Dawn enjoys combining the techniques of screenprinting, lino cut, dry point and collagraph. The main aim of her work is to reflect the world around her through a personal perspective using the medium of ink.
