Gina Burgess is an Edinburgh based jeweller/silversmith working from Coburg House Art Studios. There she uses traditional hand techniques and tools to form precious metals into contemporary wearable sculpture. Inspired by the malleable concept of continuous movement, her designs are continually evolving to interpret this. Whether that be dance, calligraphy or cycles in nature.
Artist Biography
Gina was awarded the Goldsmith’s Silver Bullion Grant in 2016 to create her continuous candlestick design during her time at Bishopsland Educational Trust. She has exhibited her work in London, Reading, Dundee and Edinburgh, and sells her work internationally.
Gina achieved her bachelor’s degree in jewellery design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2016 before doing a residential postgraduate year at Bishopsland Educational Trust. Following this she completed an artist in residence year at Edinburgh College of Art and Design and is now a self-employed jeweller/silversmith making collection work and private commissions.
