VENUE 27 - Lezanne Scott, 10 Regent Place
Landscape & Figurative Artist
Lezanne Scott is a self-taught artist from South Africa, currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Inspired by the natural beauty of landscapes, she uses a variety of mediums to translate her vision onto paper and canvas.
Growing up in an artistic family, Lezanne was exposed to visual and performance arts from a young age. Her love for travel and the outdoors further influenced her artistic practice. After graduating as an Occupational Therapist, Lezanne became interested in printmaking and attended various short courses in sketching and linocut techniques in Cape Town between 2015 and 2020. While living in Glasgow in 2016, she began working with watercolour to capture landscapes, and since then has explored working with oil paint and mixed media on paper and canvas. Her work has evolved to include a variety of mediums, ranging between figurative and abstract styles.
With a desire to convey the essence of a place, Lezanne employs a variety of mark-making techniques to capture visible textures and colours, providing viewers with a transportive experience to an imagined world.
Lezanne Scott has participated in group exhibitions in Cape Town at venues including Art.B Gallery, Zeitz MOCAA, Haas Collective, and Daor Contemporary. In 2022, she held a solo exhibition at Spin Street Gallery.
In March 2023, she attended the Château d'Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency in Champagne-Ardenne, France, and her work is now part of the Château d’Orquevaux Art Collection.
Her first solo exhibition in the United Kingdom, "Remembering Spring," took place in January 2024.
