Hiya, my name is Jess and I own Ginger Twist Studio, a wool shop on London Road. I learned to knit from my Nana when I was 12, and have been an avid knitter ever since. I was delighted to open up my wool shop in 2013, and have since shared my passion for natural fibres and hand dyed yarns with Abbeyhill! The shop offers specially hand dyed yarns, patterns from independent designers, and many other haberdashery treasures. It is only for the Colony of Artists every year that I have my annual knitwear sample sale, so come by to see what is on offer for this special event! Hand knit hats, mitts, sweaters, baby items, and more!
I grew up in Oregon (just outside of Portland), and then lived in NYC studying and practicing musical theatre for 8 years. Edinburgh has been my home now for the past 11 years, with my husband, and newly arrived daughter (who now features heavily on my social media as my favourite knitwear model). I opened my wool shop on London Road in 2013 and began hand dyeing my own range of luxury yarns especially for the shop.
