VENUE 45 - Adriana de Matos Artwork, 33 Rossie Place

Wildlife Illustrations

Adriana de Matos is a professional artist who is inspired by the beauty of Scotland's fauna & flora. She makes illustrations and paintings of forest creatures, birds, plants and, occasionally, more exotic species too - then selling not only her original artwork but also an affordable range of prints and merchandise inspired by her wildlife illustrations. Her motto is to bring the Woodlands into people's Homes, and to connect them with natures’ most singular creatures. She is also a busy portrait artist, and has portrayed numerous family pets of all kinds – and, occasionally, people too!

Adriana graduated from the University of Lisbon with a Degree in Painting (Fine Arts) and a Masters in Art, Heritage and Theory of Restoration, gaining a Merit Prize from the same university for her successful final results in 2012. She has exhibited in a large number of collective displays in Portugal, focusing on oil paintings depicting the Human figure and Human nature, and exhibited solo for the first time in March 2014 at “Centro Cultural do Morgado”, near Lisbon.

A month later, she would move to Scotland, a country that she had visited and had always felt to be very close to her heart. Enchanted with Scotland’s wildlife she then starts creating small animal illustrations, and selling them in some creative shops, galleries and art markets across Scotland and England.

Her work is currently available at The Leith Collective shops and at Planet.A Boutique.  She frequently participates in art markets around Edinburgh and Glasgow areas, and often exhibits in local spaces. She has also been recently involved in a number of public art trails by Wild in Art, painting sculptures for different charitable organisations around Scotland.
