Art For Adventurous Souls
Slava Lawson is a professional animator but she is passionate about creating traditional art in her spare time, inspired by travel and outdoor activities. She is based in Dundee where she graduated with a degree in Animation from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2013. She started her career as an animator at Outplay Entertainment in 2016.
Slava grew up in Edinburgh, and her mother owns a house in the Colonies.
Her preferred mediums are watercolours, markers, inks, and embroidery. Since she’s very inspired by travel, she prefers to work very small- scale, and on- the- go! In recent years she has become very interested in rock climbing. This new hobby has taken her to some very beautiful places in Scotland, and around the world, on outdoor climbing trips, which, in turn, has influenced her work. Last year, and in spring 2024, she exhibited traditional work in Kalymnos, inspired by the climbing community of the small Greek island. She had a great experience sharing her work in person with people who were equally inspired by the place, and decided to exhibit more in 2024, and to bring her work to new audiences in her home country.
