VENUE 40 - Victoria Murray, 7 Carlyle Place
Silver & Copper Jewellery
Victoria Murray has been making silver and copper jewellery for nearly 20 years. She has gained her skills from studying at various evening and day classes around the UK, including at Edinburgh College of Art and Higham Hall, and with Bryony Knox and Linda Lewin. Victoria is inspired by nature and natural shapes. She particularly loves forming, where beauty is created by shaping, pushing, twisting and texturing flat sheets of silver and copper into unique pieces. She is also a member of the Guild of Enamellers. Silversmithing is Victoria’s serious hobby, and she juggles this with working at Historic Environment Scotland, spending time with her family, gardening and walking her dog Juno. She has a little workshop in her Haddington home, and also co-ordinates a silver jewellery group which meets regularly at the Poldrate Arts and Crafts Centre in Haddington. Victoria tends to focus her work on small exhibitions, sales, and commissions when time allows.
