Hand Pulled Screen Prints
Christina Robertson is a screen printer based in Edinburgh. She takes inspiration from Scotland's architecture, landmarks and coastline. Using bold colour combinations and sections of vintage maps she creates limited edition hand pulled screen prints, that will brighten our surroundings on even the dullest of days!
Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art Christina has worked as a graphic designer. However, too much screen time got her craving a more hands-on creative outlet. She took classes at Edinburgh Printmakers and discovered that the processes involved in creating screens prints were a perfect match for her, allowing her to combine her love for photography with her skills as a graphic designer.
The inspiration for her screen prints often comes from her photographs. She searches for an unusual angle on familiar landmarks and then strips it back to its strongest components. She then screen prints using bold colour combinations and sections of vintage maps which provide locality to the subjects, and tie in the area’s history.
Christina has been showing her work in shops and galleries around town for a few years now and has taken part in the last 7 Colony of Artists events.
